I also like a new feature that lets me insert a Microsoft Office document directly into a Web page-and especially the option that converts the document into a PDF file during insertion. A toolbar for Internet Explorer and Firefox lets me edit a Web site in a browser window without even launching Contribute-a blessing for those of us who spend half our lives in a browser. Now you can send drafts of revised Web pages to colleagues for review, or to yourself for use on another computer if you have to move to a different machine before you finish making changes to a remote page. Adobe has broadened the feature set but made the product even easier to use. The new release, Contribute CS4, impresses me even more. The previous version, Contribute CS3, impressed me with its clear interface and tightly focused feature set. Contribute also provides a simple, powerful interface for editing your blogs and stores your blog passwords so you don't have to log in manually every time you want to correct a misspelling in an entry. Or you can let them create entirely new pages. If you manage a large Web site, you can give access to your colleagues but restrict them to editing only specified parts of individual pages. If you're an individual Web designer, you can use this unique app to touch up your sites when you're on the road and don't have access to the source files. Adobe Contribute CS4 ($199 street upgrade, $99) does one job and does it brilliantly: It lets you and your colleagues edit a Web site that's already online, using a WYSIWYG interface that makes the process effortless.
